For this French craft candle project, the outer gift box needed to communicate refinement through restraint. The design relies on 150g white kraft paper and a debossed tactile identity rather than a protective printed surface treatment. This created an immediate production challenge: untreated white kraft is more exposed to visible dirt, adhesive marks, pressure impressions, and handling variations during manual wrapping and final assembly.
The debossed feature introduced a second challenge. During rigid box formation, wrapping pressure can soften or flatten a debossed detail, reducing the tactile depth that gives the package its identity. The outer flip-top box also required a square, smooth form, rounded wrapped corners, and a firm magnetic closing response without visible pits, pressure marks, or deformation.
Inside, the presentation required a 35mm black EVA insert to support the candle product. The insert is built from a 5mm base pad plus a 30mm die-cut layer, with laser engraving for the approved cavity layout. Multiple inner-box variants also required separate print versions and organized assembly. Correct version matching, sequence control, and batch consistency were therefore essential engineering priorities.
The PackTonTon Engineering Team developed the outer box using 150g white kraft paper mounted to 1200g double-greyboard. The white kraft surface is handled as a presentation-critical material. Clean work surfaces, adhesive application control, handling discipline, and final visual inspection are engineering targets intended to minimize visible dirt and glue marks on the untreated exterior.
The result is a presentation concept where the white kraft exterior, tactile debossing, black EVA interior, and magnetic reveal work together as one controlled experience.
The insert uses a 5mm base pad plus a 30mm die-cut EVA layer. Laser engraving supports the approved cavity layout for the candle product. Final fit should be confirmed with an approved product sample.
Each component uses 350g single-sided coated card with 4C printing, high-gloss lamination, die-cutting, and adhesive assembly. The completed components are sorted and combined into the outer box according to the approved nesting sequence.
