For this French premium tableware project, the packaging had to create a strong first impression before the product was seen. The brief required a deep-tone magnetic flip-top box with a large printed front panel, centered gold foil, and a corrugated-paper insert designed to organize and cushion tableware during handling and transport.
Dark, large-coverage printing introduces a demanding set of visual risks. Any color variation across the front panel can be immediately visible. Scratches, white dots, surface scuffs, pressure marks, and small registration shifts can interrupt the intended continuous color field. The gold foil element also needed to remain centered and cleanly presented against the dark ground, with foil coverage and placement controlled as part of the complete visual system.
The large flip-top structure required equal attention. The rigid box needed to remain square, smooth, and stable after formation, with a controlled magnetic closure and no visible pits, pressure impressions, or deformation. Internally, the corrugated-paper insert had to be engineered for an easy folding sequence while supporting a tableware protection strategy based on cushioning, compression resistance, fold resistance, and tear resistance.
The PackTonTon Engineering Team developed the outer box using 157g double-coated paper mounted to 1200g greyboard. The exterior uses 4C printing, scratch-resistant matte lamination, and gold foil stamping. The printed front panel and foil artwork are treated as connected reference points: color density, large-area uniformity, panel alignment, foil position, and foil coverage should be reviewed against approved references before production.
The resulting concept presents tableware through a disciplined dark exterior and a practical internal protection system.
The flatbed die-cut corrugated insert is designed to fold into a defined geometry and help absorb handling impact while supporting compression, folding, and tearing resistance. Final fit and protective performance should be confirmed using approved tableware samples and insert trials.
Batch review should compare approved references for 4C color, matte surface, foil placement, box geometry, wrapped edges, magnetic closure, corrugated insert folding, and final assembly. These are production quality targets to be confirmed during approved sample and batch inspection stages.
